The taho vendor is usually one of the most well-liked people in the neighborhood — but not in this case with the man who broke into a house in Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig City on Friday, Nov 8.
“At around 1pm, taho vendor Rael Aquino, 27, broke into the house of Bon Tuvillo and headed to the kitchen to grab two knives, which he used to threaten a 30-year-old yaya and the five kids under her care,” reports Mike Frialde in The Philippine Star.
A Special Weapons and Tactics team from the Taguig police and the Southern Police District took went into the house at 4pm and managed to overpower Aquino. They later observed that he appeared to under the influence of drugs.
According to the report, Aquino had released liquefied petroleum gas from the tank in the kitchen and was probably thinking of burning down the house. Fortunately, he was taken into custody without a single shot being fired. He will be charged with serious illegal detention.
The hostages were taken to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for medical examination.
