The camp of Taguig mayoral candidate Rica Tinga are to blame for the fracas with supporters of incumbent mayor Lani Cayetano on Saturday that left several injured.
That, at least, is how Taguig Mayor Cayetano sees it.
She said in an Abante report that there were so many other places for Tinga other than Taguig City Hall where the incident happened.
“If they were doing house-to-house campaigning, then they should have gone somewhere where there was a lot of people. It’s suspicious that they tried to enter City Hall on a Saturday when offices are closed,” she said in Filipino.
Tinga insists they were campaigning in Tuktukan village on Saturday when they were set upon by members of Taguig’s Public Order and Safety Office. Twelve of her supporters were injured in the incident including model-actor Ervic Vijandre who is running for city council.
Tinga has asked President Benigno Aquino III to step in and protect her and her camp from alleged harassment by Cayetano and her supporters.
