Taguig gives PHP250,000 each to adopted Yolanda-hit towns

“On Monday, Jan 20, the Taguig City government awarded PHP250,000 in aid funds to each of the five adopted Eastern Samar towns badly hit by Typhoon Yolanda,” reports Mike Frialde on Philstar.com.

The checks were given to Mayors Jaime Ty (Gen. MacArthur town), Sheen Gonzales (Guiuan), Enrique Cabos (Mercedes), Melchor Melgar (Salcedo), and Nedito Campo (Quinapondan).

The report noted that the said towns were earlier assigned by the Metro Manila Commission (MMC) to Taguig for “adoption.”

The MMC, which is composed of all the mayors of Metro Manila and is also the policy-making arm of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), has pledged to help Yoland-hit areas until they fully recover.
