Taguig City local gov’t puts up rescued dogs, cats for adoption

The local government of Taguig City is putting up rescued dogs and cats staying for adoption.

“Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano explained that the adoption of rescued animals is part of the city government’s mission to promote animal welfare in the city through the veterinary office,” reports Betheena Kae Unite in Manila Bulletin.

“This initiative expresses the intention of the city that every Bantay and Muning have a right to be taken care of,” Cayetano said.

The report noted: “The adoption process includes filling out required forms, interviews, and background checks conducted by the city veterinary office. Persons who are interested in adopting are requested to visit the city pound. Animals will only be released to those who will meet the adoption criteria. Cayetano noted that the whole adoption process is free.”

Aside from bringing back the animals to their healthy form, the city’s veterinary office spays and neuters the animals who are staying at the city animal pound.

Rabies vaccinations are also offered for free to pet owners in Taguig City.
