Tacloban City starts burying their dead

It’s a heartbreaking act—but it has to be done.

“On Thursday, Nov 14, workers in typhoon-shattered Tacloban City buried 100 of its thousands of dead in a hillside mass burial at the city’s public cemetery,” reports Marlon Ramos in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. All the bodies unidentified. They were placed in body bags and placed in the massive hole in the ground.

The death toll from Typhoon Yolanda is currently at 2,357, but the figure is expected to rise as more remains may be discovered among the debris that still covers the city.

More mass burials are expected to be done.
