“According to a survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS), three in five Filipinos now favor the legalization of divorce for irreconcilably separated couples,” reports Lira Dalangin-Fernandez on InterAksyon.com.
In a survey conducted from Nov 27 to Dec 1, 2014, the SWS found out that “60% of adult Filipinos said they agreed (38 percent strongly, 22 percent somewhat) that ‘married couples who have already separated and cannot reconcile anymore should be allowed to divorce so that they can get legally married again.'”
There were 1,800 respondents aged 18 and older.
The report noted: “The survey also showed that 29% disagreed (8% somewhat, 21% strongly) and 11% of the respondents were undecided on the matter.”
The SWS survey on divorce was non-commissioned.
