Meal rations of US forces — known as Meal, Ready to Eat (MRE) — are being sold at a Makati mall despite an express ban in its retail sale, reports Tina Panganiban Perez in Saksi (watch the video below).
The ready-to-eat packs, sold for PHP220 per piece, comes in several variants. On its label, the MRE is “US Government property” and it expressly states that “commercial resale is prohibited.”
The stall owner was interviewed on camera but he declined to identify himself or reveal how his shop obtained the food packs.
That’s embarrassing.
