After receiving truckloads of documents for the plunder complaint against three senators and several members of their staff in connection with the PHP10-billion pork barrel scam, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales conceded earlier this week it might take her office a year to review everything. On Thursday, she clarified that “it’s going to take much less.” At a gathering in Makati City, Morales said she went through the initial batch of evidence on Wednesday to see for herself how the investigation would pan out. “I assure you, you’ll be in for a surprise, it’s going to take much less,” said Morales. She explained that she replied to “a leading question” from the media and at the Senate when she remarked about how long would the investigation at the Ombudsman take. MM
