Supreme Court freezes disqualification of Senior Citizens party-list

The Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order on the disqualification of Senior Citizens party-list, giving the group a chance to claim seats at the House of Representatives.

Senior Citizens party-list, or the Coalition of Associations of Senior Citizens of the Philippines Inc., received 670,000 votes in the elections earlier this month, putting them in the Top 10 wiinning party-list groups. The Commission on Elections has disqualified them, though.

The SC has given the Comelec 10 days to respond to a petition that Senior Citizens filed to question its disqualification for submitting two sets of nominees for House seats, the Philippine Star reports.
