Sunday scare: 14 people get trapped in mall elevator

While you were lazing away your Sunday, some people got quite a scare.

“At around 3:20pm, 14 people, including a pregnant woman, were trapped inside an elevator at Fairview Terraces mall in Quezon City,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report said that an elevator at the newly opened mall had been on its way up when it stalled and fell one level down. As such, “the passengers, including the elevator operator, were stuck between the lower and upper ground levels for about 40 minutes.”

At around 4pm, rescuers assisted passengers in climbing out through the elevator ceiling, and then exiting the elevator shaft to the mall area.

The Fairview Terraces management is looking into the incident. (Because, really, a new mall shouldn’t be experiencing these things.)
