A student with the name Drink Water (yes, that’s his legal name) who previously went viral in January for his unique moniker has gone full circle, after he was tapped to endorse a bottled drink.

Drink Water Rivera found social media fame after his college classmates posted a photo of his school ID online, calling it “The best Filipino name in existence.”

Drink Water, who studied communication at Far Eastern University, said that he loved his name because it made him stand out. “I’m loving my name because as we were told in my advertising class, this is my branding. One of the key factors of good advertising is good branding and its impact, and I think it resonates with my name as people are amazed by my name,” he said.

It seems a brand has taken his advice to heart after Drink Water was tapped to star in the latest commercial for Gatorade No Sugar — an electrolyte-packed beverage.

The hilarious commercial, which starts out with the disclaimer, “No names have been changed. None. Promise,” places Drink Water and his hydration-based identity at the center.

“Day and night, year after year, I’ve been content with just water,” he narrates in the video — but resorts to drinking the brand’s beverage during workouts.

Drink Water previously shared the story behind his unique name: his mother has a knack for giving her children unique names, with his siblings named Winner and Rice. Another reason is that the special name came to mind after his mother went into labor and couldn’t breathe until she drank water.

Perhaps Drink Water may also find some consolation behind the fact that he isn’t alone: he shares this name in common with English football player Danny Drinkwater.
