The people who don’t agree with this student leader’s opinion have no right to threaten him.
“On Tuesday, January 12, University of the Philippines Diliman University Student Council chairman John Paul Delas Nieves disclosed that he has been receiving threats and bashing in social media after he filed a disqualification case against popular presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte,” reports Pia Gutierrez on ABS-CBnews.com.
Delas Nieves is questioning the validity of Duterte’s Certicate of Candidacy (COC) for President.
He told reporters: “Nakalagay doon sana mamatay ka na. Sana ‘yung girlfriend mo magahasa, sana manakawan ka.”
“The 21-year-old Delas Nieves appeared at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office with lawyer Sheila Bazar after being absent from the scheduled preliminary conference of his petition on Monday, January 11. The media earlier reported that Delas Nieves’ case has been technically dismissed by the First Division because of their absence. Delas Nieves explained that he was in Davao for a conference of student leaders,” according to the report.
Comelec Commissioner Christian Robert Lim has clarified that no order was issued to dismiss Dela Nieves’ petition.
Delas Nieves was quoted as saying this about Duterte supporters, “Ang problema dito iyung pangulo na sinusuportahan nila, ang inspirasyon na binibigay niya hindi sa pagkakaisa kundi sa pananakot sa isa’t-isa (The problem is, the President they want doesn’t advocate unity, but fear and intimidation).”
