A cement mixer fell over on Araneta Avenue in Quezon City on Tuesday, hitting a passenger jeepney and killing a student waiting for a ride.
The student, identified as Marie Cherrie Inson of Tandang Sora, was waiting for a ride when the cement truck took a sharp right turn from Del Monte Avenue to Araneta Avenue, hitting a jeepney going the other way.
Witnesses say truck Reynaldo Guarte may not have seen excavation by a water utility company when he took the turn.
Inson was trapped under the truck, which had to be removed by a tow truck and a crane from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, radio DZMM reports.
Seven people were injured in the accident with five of them brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. Two of the injured were sent to the Philippine Orthopedic Center.
Quezon City traffic police have Guarte in custody.
