A former student of the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP) went viral over the weekend when he couldn’t help but express his K-Pop-loving self and danced to Blackpink’s Kill This Love right after receiving his college diploma during graduation.
Jose “Dora” Dorado posted a video of himself dancing on the graduation stage in front of his schoolmates and teachers on Saturday at the UP campus in Quezon City.
In the video, screams from the crowd could be heard as the Clothing Technology graduate danced to the hit Kill This Love.
The video, which a friend of his took, has been shared almost 42,000 times on Facebook as of this article’s posting. It has also received almost 4,200 comments.

In an interview with Coconuts Manila, Dorado said he danced on stage during his graduation because he was starting to get bored by the event. “[I danced because] I was extra cheery that day because it was my graduation.”
Dorado, who wants to pursue a career as a fashion designer, felt that dancing was the right way to end his 5-year stay in UP.
“I really just wanted to celebrate!” he said.
Everything was spontaneous and he didn’t practice beforehand. As a Blackpink fan, he also felt Kill This Love’s dance steps deserved to be showcased on stage.
“That was just something [I thought of doing] on the spot!” he said. “I like Blackpink’s music. And everyone knows those steps basically, hahaha.”
Dorado said the reaction from his schoolmates and their families were overwhelmingly positive. “They celebrated with me! It was just laughter and applause!”
Even online, people’s reactions were mostly positive. Cy Nadala wrote that Dorado’s dancing was the “best way to sign off” from UP.

Angela Dagdag wrote: “Congrats. This made my day!”

Chelsea Dela Torre wrote that she loved Dorado’s confidence.

However, there were a few who didn’t like what Dorado did on stage such as Andrea Druccio, who wrote in English and Filipino:
“Such an attention-seeker. Don’t get me wrong but please, this is stupid. You could’ve done that [but] not on the stage. Someone’s name is being called and you are disrespecting her by having the crowd’s attention directed towards you. Also, this is a formal event, you should act accordingly.”
