A Grade 9 student was arrested last night for marijuana possession which he said he needs to ease his asthma. The pack of pot wrapped in paper was found hidden snugly inside his briefs — to keep it nice and warm?

GMA News’ Balitambayan identified the suspect as 19-year-old Jairus Quenobeba who was reportedly found acting suspiciously by security officials of Barangay (village) Sacred Heart in Quezon City.

Said village chairman Camille Malig David in Filipino: “We saw him and thought there was something wrong. He was peeking inside cars that’s why we spoke with our Barangay Public Safety Officer.”

The suspect ran away when the officers tried to approach him. When he was caught, the marijuana was found in his possession.

He admitted that he smokes pot to ease his asthma which he said attacks after he plays basketball, Remate reported.

Quenobeba will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act No. 9165. He could be jailed for life and will be made to pay a fine that would range from PHP500,000 (US$9,300) to PHP10 million (US$185,933).
