Starting today, call 4592129 to report picky taxi drivers

Who you gonna call when the cab driver won’t drive you home? Keep these digits in your phone. It won’t get you a cab replacement but it can help the wheels of justice to turn faster.

“The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) launched a new hotline for passenger complaints: +63 2 4592129,” reports Kris Bayos in Manila Bulletin.

The LTFRB partnered with the Automobile Association of the Philippines, which helped set up the 24/7 call center to handle the public’s complaints on taxi drivers.

Cabbies are extremely picky especially that the holidays are fast approaching. Some others tend to overcharge passengers, rationalizing that the holiday traffic is eating into their profit.

An LTFRB official said the hotline would boost their operations against cabbies, who have been fined since the agency launched its Oplan Isnabero campaign in early December.

Coconuts Manila tried calling the hotline number. On the first try, we got two rings before the line was cut off. On our second attempt, the phone was picked up after one ring and it was a male attendant on the other line.

We asked him if there have been any reports as of 10:30am — zero, so far. He said these are the details they will need from callers: plate number, type of vehicle (taxi or jeepney), time and place of incident and type of violation (overcharging, refusal to board passenger, etc). You will also be asked to leave your contact number in case LTFRB schedules a case hearing.
