Start date of ban on weekday mall sales in Metro Manila moved to Nov 1

We’re not sure if this is good news or bad news.

Earlier this month, the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (IACT) announced that there would be no weekday mall sales in Metro Manila starting Oct 21 in a bid to ease traffic congestion.

However, they are now saying that the start of the ban on weekday mall sales has been moved to Nov 1.

The Philippine Star quoted Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager and IACT member Tim Orbos as saying, “The IACT granted the mall owners’ request to move the ‘no weekly mall sales’ [ban start date] because there are some mall owners…who could not back out of their scheduled mall sales.”

Orbos pointed out that “the scheduled mall sales on weekends will push through.”
