Tennis prodigy Alberto Lim and top seed player Jurence Mendoza both came out victorious last Thursday in the Phinma International Juniors. The Rizal Memorial Tennis Center was the venue for this competition.
Sixteen year old Mendoza swept over Taipei Wu Tung Lin with a 6-2, 6-4 win. Lim, who is the youngest player at 13, rallied against China’s Chen Xin, quickly recovering from a first set loss to finish with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.
Both are now headed for the quarterfinals round. Mendoza will be playing against Razak Abdul of Malaysia who is now ranked at no. 6 and Lim will be facing Japan’s Shoma Kato.
Other participants moving on to the quarterfinals round include Shoki Kasahara and Yusuke Takahashi of Japan, Congsup Congcar of Thailand and Aussie Daniel Nolan, ABS CBN News reported.
