Smolka gets shot at Cali’s PXC belt

Hawaii- based fighter Louis Smolka gets his chance to face-off against PXC flyweight champion Ali “Young Gun” Cali.

Smolka survived a grueling and bloody match with Nueva Ecija-born Alvin Cacdac during their main undercard bout at PXC 35 last Feb. 16, 2013 at the Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig City.

The winner will be the priority challenger for the PXC Flyweight belt, currently held by the hard-hitting Davao native champion, Ali Cali.

During the early stages of the bout, Cacdac was dominantly in control with his effective striking plan and even managed to cut the Hawaiian Smolka in the right eyebrow, making his face turn tomato-red with all the blood gushing from the cut. Even so, Cacdac failed to take advantage of Smolka’s injury and failed short to seal the deal and deliver the finishing blow to the Smolka.

The Hawaiian then recovered and regained his fighting form to get back at Cacdac in the ensuing rounds, repeatedly slamming Cacdac onto the Octagon’s mat and mauling him all over.

The third round would also run the same scenario for Smolka before taking hold and finishing an already tired opponent with a rear-naked choke that forced Cacdac to tap out himself out by way of submission.

The win guarantees Smolka the PXC Flyweight title fight with Ali Cali who’s also in ringside attendance during the PXC 35 event.
