Road to redemption: Hitman Sarmiento headlines PXC 35

Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento wants to return to the octagon with a bang.

After choosing to step down in the featherweight division and suffering a disappointing first-round loss when he tapped out and submitted to rising Filipino-American grappler Mark Streigl during a non-title match last November, Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento opts to return to his natural weight division at 155 pounds and defends his Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC) lightweight belt against rising mixed martial arts (MMA) prospect Isiah Ordiz in the coming PXC 35 on February 16, 2012, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The well-traveled 29-year old Sarmiento, whose Pinoy trace of origin comes from Ilocos Norte, will try to redeem himself and is hoping to improve his 35-24 (win-loss) card against another up-and-comer  and fellow Filipino in Ordiz, who won his first two pro fights, the latest a split-decision victory over Tristan Arenal last November during PXC 34 at the Araneta Center.

Meanwhile, other bouts that will be completing the bill for PXC 35 will be Filipino-American Alvin Cacdac facing undefeated Hawaiian Louis “Da Last Samurai” Smolka. Team Lakay’s Troy Bantiag will be showcasing his Wushu skills when he  goes up against Tony Reyes of Guam. Japanese Chuji Kato will battle Korean Top Team’s Hong Seung Chan. Completing the fight cards will be Hawaiian Ronald Jhun facing Swede Zebastian Kadestam on the octagon.
