The Philippine men’s football team is hoping to arrange one more friendly with a higher-ranked opponent before plunging into action in the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup Group E Qualifiers, possibly on March 17.
The Philippine Azkals are hoping to hold another friendly match with another high-rank opponent before they immerse themselves into full training and seriously prepare themselves for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup where they will challenge the teams in the Group E qualifiers during the month’s end.
Philippine Football officials are still mum on the possible friendly match for the Azkals later this month. The only news worth noting is that the mystery opponent is higher in ranking than the Azkals, who are currently ranked 147th on the world rankings.
One bump is that the the desired venues — the Rizal Stadium in Manila, Panaad Stadium in Bacolod, and even the Cebu City Sports Complex — are unavailable due to previous engagements and respective reasons.
Concerned camps are now entertaining Hong Kong or even Macau as a venue for the friendly match.
