The University of Perpetual Help snags its second straight NCAA Women’s Volleyball championship after getting the best and triumphing over the gutsy lady spikers of San Sebastian College in their best-of-three championship series for the NCAA Season 88 women’s volleyball tourney.
The Lady Altas who were down 0-1 from the series, and edged the Lady Stags a breathtaking exchange during their 2nd outing, barely winning with sets 21-25, 25-12, 28-26, 29-27, delivered the final punch as they showed a dominant performance after routing the Lady Stags for their 3rd game and closing game with prevailing sets 25-19, 25-17, 25-16, almost bagging the championship trophy even before the final whistle gets blown. Lady Altas’ Honey Royse Tubino led and paved the way for the University of Perpetual Help with an impressive 17 points and three blocks.
With their first two games going on a tension-filled neck-to-neck exchange, the Lady Altas, who made the Lady Stags pay dearly for their poor reception with 13 service aces, rolled to their effective and solid net and floor defense before shifting their gear at the offensive end led by Tubino and April Sartin who also had a strong outing with her own 15 points, including three aces, guiding their team to an easy victory.
San Sebastian’s standout and super rookie Grethcel Soltones managed to convert just 15 points for the Lady Stags.
