De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University are pitted against one another once again, but this time, it’s for the UAAP women’s volleyball championship.
Current defending champion La Salle Lady Spikers and runner-up Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles are set to meet up once again for the best-of-three finals of the UAAP Volleyball tourney, recreating the championship encounter last year.
The two teams put their marks on the championship rounds after edging out their corresponding nemesis during the semifinals stages. The defending champs La Salle Lady Spikers schooled Final Four newbies National University Lady Bulldogs during the playoffs and the Ateneo Lady Eagles persevered over the persistent Adamson Lady Falcons giving them not just another run for the title, but also a golden opportunity to exact revenge over the Lady Spikers who beat them over last year’s finals.
The Lady Eagles will surely turn to super rookie Alyssa Valdez who’s been red hot since the start of the season, delivering kill after kill in each and every set. Court heartthrob and squad team captain Gretchen Ho is also expected to guide the team to deliver them the championship this time around.
The defending champions Lady Spikers on the other hand will rely on their trusty veterans and expects MVP candidate Abby Maraño to guide them for a back-to-back title run.
Game 1 of the UAAP Volleyball Finals is scheduled on March 2 in an anticipated sold out Araneta Coliseum.
