All Green Lights for Donaire – Rigondeaux

After all the in-and-outs, the humps and the bumps, the negotiations for the Super Bantamweight Title Unification match between WBO champion Nonito Donaire Jr. and WBA beltholder Guillermo Rigondeaux is all green lights from here – finally.

Both fighters, including their respective camps have agreed to take on two separate drug testing bodies to conduct assessments in relation to the unification bout that’ll be headlining the HBO televised World Championship Boxing feature on April 14 (Philippine time) at the Radio Music Hall in New York City.

On who will become the official drug testing body become a serious hurdle for both fighters. Donaire, a known supporter of the Voluntary Anti- Drug Association (VADA) was initially requesting Rigondeaux to undertake the same procedures and to also sign up under the same conditions in order for the fight to push through.

However, Gary Hyde, Rigondeaux’s manager, countered and insisted that their camp would only sign and conform to the VADA agreement if Donaire’s camp would also subject with the drug testing under the Unites States Anti Doping Agency (USADA)

In which reports have claimed that both Top Rank boss Bob Arum and Donaire’s manager Cameron Dunkin have agreed to do so and compromise.
