South Korean manufacturing firms offer 6,800 job slots for qualified OFWs

In 2015, the government of South Korea had a work order quota of 4,600 slots for qualified Filipino workers. This year, the work order quota has gone up to 6,800 slots. This is in line with the government-to-government Employment Permit System (EPS) agreement between the two countries.

Manufacturing companies in South Korea are the ones in need of workers. They include processing and production centers using plastic, metal, and rubber. Electronic components factories and food production entities also have job openings for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) says that those applying for work in South Korea should have proper documentation. On top of that, they must pass the medical exam and language test.

In an ABS-CBN News interview, POEA deputy administrator Amy Reyes emphasized, “You must be properly documented in order to work abroad. This means you must go through the process.”
