Soon on TV: Reality show on war against drugs

So is the show going to be like a combination of TV Patrol and Pinoy Big Brother?

Actually, the whole concept is supposedly inspired by the American TV Series Cops, shot cinéma-vérité style.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ironing out plans for a reality television show that will follow police officers as they fight crime and narcotics on the streets.

Ang layunin nito ay mapakita sa publiko ang mga programa ng Philippine National Police para labanan ‘yung kriminalidad lalo na ‘yung droga,” said Henry Atuelan in his DZMM report.

(The show aims to show the programs of the Philippine National Police in fighting crimes, especially drugs.”)

What to expect? A gritty up-close look how real-life police officers fight crime.

Senior Supt. Wilbert Cruz, director of the PNP Community Relations group, said the show will utilize 600 CCTV cameras in Metro Manila to get footage of policemen in action.

The PNP is hoping to send a message that they are serious about fighting crime, drugs most especially.

THe program will air on the state-owned People’s Television Network.
