Wonder what will be served to the 800 people who will be at President Benigno Aquino III’s fifth and final State of the Nation of the Address on Mon, Jul 27?
An image of the SONA 2015 menu was shared by GMA News reporter Tina Panganiban-Perez (see below) via Twitter. A handwritten “note” on the sheet of paper shows that the food cost was computed at PHP700 per head, a fact which has already drawn mixed reactions from the public.

Some people said that PHP700 per head was “cheap,” while others say it seems unfair to Pinoys who are starving since the money being spent for the SONA 2015 food came from the nation’s budget.
As detailed in the menu, the hot buffet will offer:
- Black Angus with soft pan rolls with caper mayonnaise at the carving station
- Bacon wrapped chicken rolls
- Chicken barbecue kebabs
- Eastern shrimp rolls with sweet chili sauce (spot cooking)
- Bread sticks with quattro formaggio artichoke dip
- Pasta carbonara
- Cappellini a la puttanesca
The cold buffet will have an assortment of cocktail sandwiches:
- Chicken asparagus rolls
- Cheese pimiento and tuna pinwheels
- Crab and olive open-faced sandwiches
- Wasabi burgers
The cheese platters will carry Bleu, Camembert, Brie and cheddar cheese with grapes, crackers, and pâté. The caterers will also server shrimp and capsicum vinaigrette in shot glasses.
For dessert, guests can enjoy cream puffs, chocolate éclairs, and fresh fruit panna cotta. Drinks served will be green tea and raspberry iced tea.
“Task Force SONA chair House Secretary General Marilyn Barua Yap confirmed that the allotted budget for the exclusive event was P700 a head, bringing the total food bill to PHP560,000 for 800 people,” reports GMA News Online.
