SONA 2015: #OOTDs

Got a tip? Send it to us at manila@coconuts.co.

Apart from anticipating what President Aquino will be saying for his fifth and final State of the Nation Address, people are also eager to see what their lawmakers, and wives are wearing.

There are a few early posts on social media, which, of course, we can’t help but make a comment on.

TRIBAL GEAR AWARDEE
Senator Loren Legarda

This is her third year to sport the, erm, katutubo look. We think it’s great that the good Senator is all out in promoting the local and tribal wear. But doesn’t this look like an overkill? Her Ilonggat earrings look fine, except it falls right where her Bontoc necklace, which looks so, so, so heavy, starts. The patterns from her recycled bag seem to go against the patterns of her tapis, too.

Loren-Legarda

Thankfully, she would later change to an all-Filipino outfit, with a piña top by Marina Antonio over black pants and bank sando top. Her accessories are from Kalinga (bracelet), Abra (earrings), and Vigan (necklace).

BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER
Senator Nancy Binay

After last year’s disaster, Sen. Binay play defense and calls this beautiful navy blue Randy Ortiz number, ‘boring.’

COLOR OF THE DAY
White

Look at Sen. Grace Poe, Mrs. Chiz Escudero, Dawn Zulueta, and Lucy Tores-Gomez, and Tootsie Angara looking like a glowing bride. In fairness, they’re all rocking the white!

LOOKS DELICIOUS
Kris Aquino

Maybe it’s just us, but the embroidery on Kris’ beautiful Filipiniana gown kind of reminded us of the beautiful icing on an Estrel’s caramel cake.

UPCYLING AT ITS BEST
Rep Lani Mercado

She and Sen. Grace Poe, are wearing old Rajo Laurel gowns that they’ve worn at previous SONAs.

PRETTY FLY BARONG
Cong. Neri Colminares

Check out his barong and we’ll shush up!

FRUITY
Cong. Jinkee Pacquiao

Doesn’t her Francis Libiran gown remind you of a watermelon?

EDGY
Sen. Pia Cayetano

The dress may be a sweet pastel pink, but look at those black pearls on her neckline that woah, goes down her back!
