Part of what makes The Sims games so addicting is their ability to let you build and design whatever you can dream up, and with the game allowing you to add custom modifications, their virtual world can indeed becomes your oyster.
One group took it to the next level by building their own vision of two of the country’s most beloved fast food restaurants: Jollibee and Mang Inasal (which are both owned by the Jollibee Food Group). And the results of their hard work are impressive: from the realistic Jollibee statue that greets diners in most branches and the famous Angel Locsin poster in Mang Inasal stores, to the intricate details inspired by native architecture.
“Thanks to Filipino and other Southeast Asian mod creators, building our favorite fast-food restaurants and native architecture in The Sims 4 is now possible! Even precolonial outfits can be assembled in the game if you know where to look,” Karakoa Productions wrote on Facebook, crediting modder SimlyPH for the Jollibee and Mang Inasal decor.
Karakoa Productions, which is a theater group that aims to educate Cebuanos about precolonial Visayan culture, designed the native-themed versions of Jollibee and Mang Inasal set in the tropics, complete with the thatched roof and wooden walls. Some of their Sims are dressed in their best approximations of pre-colonial wear, while the servers use recognizable fast food uniforms.
