Tension sparked on Fri, Sep 4, as young activists trooped to Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City to protest alleged atrocities of the military.
Members of the College Editors’ Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) and the League of Filipino Students (LFS) condemned the injustices supposedly done by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) against the Lumad, Mindanao’s non-Moro indigenous peoples.
The activists were able to storm past the first line of barricade and threw paint on Gate 2 of the Army headquarters.
The activists also scrawled “AFP, berdugo (executioner)!” in red paint over the military logo on Camp Aguindaldo’s wall.
Authorities then used water cannon on the group. (from a report by Jon Ibañez, dzMM)
