Why do petty videoke issues have to turn deadly?

“In the early hours of Thursday, March 12, at a videoke bar in the town of Jaro in Leyte, Private First Class (PFC) Baltazar Nacion was reprimanded by the proprietor, Alejandro Molabola, because he was allegedly singing too loud,” reports Ranulfo Docdocan on ANC.

The report noted: “Instead of listening to Molabola, Nacion mauled him, which led to a commotion after some of the other customers went after Nacion.”

Nacion and his companion, PFC Robert Abrantes, escaped after the commotion. However, they later returned and Nacion allegedly fired at the customers and the two waitresses.

Recovered from the scene were slugs from a gun, and Nacion’s identification card.

The victims were identified as Andres Cadapan, Joselito Sunico, and Lea Mae Jamito, a waitress at the videoke bar.
Another waitress, identified as Maria Fe Puasa, was also injured in the incident.

1st Lt. Fidel Adrian Diño, commander of the Bravo Company of the 19th Infantry Battalion, later brought Nacion and Abantes to the police. He likewise agreed to turn over the weapons used in the incident.

Nacion and Abrantes will face criminal and administrative charges.
