A short-circuit at the at the SM Megamall Food Court in Mandaluyong City created panic among shoppers on Sunday. This resulted in a rush to the exits before people were able to calm down.
SM Megamall management posted a message on Twitter explaining what happened. A siomai steamer malfunctioned and the resulting explosion was mistaken for gunshots.
There was one confirmed injury due to the rush of people filing out of the building. The injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital by a Metro Manila Development Authority rescue vehicle, GMA News reported.
