A man believed to be the younger brother of singer Arnel Pineda was arrested last night on Roces Avenue in Quezon City for allegedly selling methamphetamine.

Suspect Rusmon Pineda was arrested at about 11 pm along with his motorcycle driver, a village watchman named Rojimar Frilles Romero.  Seized from the duo were four sachets of meth estimated to be worth about PHP136,000 (US$2,087).

Capt. Nazarino Emia of the Quezon City Police District said that they had arrested a drug suspect who identified Rusmon as his drug dealer.

Rusmon declined to speak to the media. Meanwhile, Romero denied that he was involved in the drug trade, saying that he just gave Rusmon a free ride as a form of public service. The two suspects are currently detained at the Kamuning Police Station.

Arnel rose to fame when he was chosen in 2007 to become the frontman of the American band Journey, which used to be led by Steve Perry.
