It started with the “stand” and “walk” signs on the elevator, but looks like SM has managed to turn this discipline thing into a full-blown campaign.

The shopping mall giant released three videos reminding shoppers to follow the rules of etiquette in the parking lot, in elevators and on escalators.
The campaigns feature the popular elevator girl Cheridel Alejandrino who went viral in 2013 for her cheerfulness and enthusiasm while manning her spot in SM Olongapo.
Really, the videos remind shoppers of pretty basic things — things that we should all know by now.
Do we really need to be reminded that pregnant women and senior citizens have priority spots in the elevator? Apparently, yes.
Do drivers need to be reminded that the PWD spot in the parking lot is for disabled drivers? Apparently yes, too.
Fine, the “walk to the left and stand to the right” rule is a fairly new thing in the Philippines, so it’s quite understandable that people need to be reminded every so often.
Suggestion: Perhaps the mall can also create a video reminding shoppers to throw their trash in the right place. This photo was taken in the mall’s eating area late last year.

As a company, SM has its flaws too, but hey that’s not an excuse for the shoppers to be rude. Let’s all start being disciplined shoppers this year, yeah?
