The authorities are now doing a probe on this curious case.
InterAksyon reports that last Thu, Oct 20, a stash of suspected shabu, (methamphetamine hydrochloride, or so-called poor man’s cocaine) was found half-buried in the sand along the shoreline in Barangay Matawe in the town of Dingalan in Aurora province.
Dingalan is a three- to four-hour drive from Manila.
The 50-year-old fisherman and his wife had been gathering shellfish along coast when they saw a container (that weighs approximately 40 kilograms) with shabu. Of course, at first, they didn’t what it was.
The container of shabu has been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s regional field office in Pampanga for proper verification of the substance.
The report noted: “The container was believed to have been dislodged from a submerged hiding place by huge waves churned up by the recent Typhoon Karen.”
The report also recalled that “in 2006, a shabu laboratory was discovered in the adjacent village of Butas na Bato, while, in 2009, two containers suspected shabu was also found near the area and another one was found in 2010.”
