A man responsible for a series of thefts in the provinces of Cavite and Nueva Ecija was finally caught yesterday after multiple CCTV footage showed him in the act.

It took a while for the police to catch the man, identified by ABS-CBN as Randy Kilala. The reason: he’s apparently a sharp dude.

His last name “Kilala” means “known” or “famous” in Filipino, an appropriate name for this master thief.

Kilala is pretty observant. Said Rosalino Panlaqui, the chief of police in Noveleta, Cavite: “He carefully studies the behavior of his victims. So if you notice, even in broad daylight, he’s not afraid to steal [from these houses].”

That sounds like a hunter observing his prey.

In one theft that occurred at Barangay (village) Magdiwang in Noveleta, Cavite, Kilala was caught on CCTV taking a massive, 40-inch TV. He also managed to take some jewelry.

Aside from Noveleta, he is also accused of stealing from houses in Rosario, Cavite; and Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, where he has a standing warrant.

Kilala didn’t even try to deny that he stole from people. He told ABS-CBN in Filipino: “I just need [money].”

So does everyone, dude.
