Join him as he celebrates half a decade of jazz, fusion music and bossa nova with a concert on March 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The upcoming concert is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the release of his seminal album, Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66.
Brasil ’66, an opus in the Bosa King’s career, made the world recognize the beauty of Brazilian music. In 2011, the album was included in the Grammy awards Hall of Fame, and it went platinum based largely on the success of its single Mas Que Nada,
Mendes is known as a briliiant musician who constantly innovates his music with collaborations with contemporary artists. He has released 55 albums over the past five decades, including the Grammy Award-winning Basileiro in 1993 and Bom Tempo in 2010.
He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005, making him one of the most-recognized Brazilian musicians of all time.
