Here’s a special week-long treat for the OG Manileños.
Senior citizens are going to get free rides on the MRT-3 and LRT-2 in observance of the Elderly Filipino Week from Oct. 1 – 7, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said in a statement released today.
The statement said that free LRT-2 rides will be available to senior citizens from 7am – 9am, and from 5pm – 7pm for the whole week (Oct. 1 – 7); and while MRT rides on Oct. 3, 6, and 7 (Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday) will be free the whole day.
“In observance of Elderly Filipino Week, EDSA MRT rides from October 1 to 7 will be free for all seniors with their ID showing their date of birth,” Senior Citizen Party-list Rep. Francisco Datol Jr. said in a statement reported by ABS-CBN News.
DZRH News stated that the LRT-2 management will provide special gates for senior citizens to go through, while magnetic tickets will be issued to elderly passengers.
The MRT-3 line starts from Quezon City (North Ave.) to Pasay City (Taft Ave.), while the LRT-2 traverses from Santolan in Pasig to Recto in Manila.
