Sen. Tito Sotto says we need a PH version of 911

So, basically, he wants to copy the 911 concept from the U.S., right?

“Senator Tito Sotto said the Philippine National Police (PNP) must prioritize the establishment of a reliable hotline that Filipinos who need help will be able to call,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “At the continuation of the Senate hearing on the modernization of the PNP, Sotto said the single hotline system must be on top of the agenda of the PNP in its modernization efforts.”

Sotto explained to the PNP officials present at the hearing: “No matter how modernized you become, if we cannot get in touch with you, it is all for nothing. So I suggest that in your modernization program, you place communications on top of the list. The people have to have something to dial you or call you anytime of the day and you can be reached. Like the 911 calls we can make in other countries.”

We’re just curious: Has Sotto ever personally made a 911 call in the U.S.? Or is his knowledge of it just from TV shows?

Plus, do we have enough resources to promise the same kind of service as well?
