“Senator TG Guingona — chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee — on Wednesday, October 22, formally invited the Vice President to a hearing on the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall Building II and other corruption activities in Makati covering the time when the latter was mayor,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
In the past, Binay had said he would only appear in the Senate “if the mother committee, and not the subcommittee, invites him to the hearing.”
Gungona said, “Vice President Jejomar Binay’s camp told the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that if it’s the mother committee who invites him, then he’ll show up. The mother committee accepts the challenge.”
Guingona likewise assured Binay that he will be given “fair and just treatment and respect for his office.”
