For some reason, a furor ensued after it was announced that Vice President Jejomar Binay’s daughter, Makati 2nd District Representative Mar-Len Abigal S. Binay (her married name is Campos), won a condominium unit from Power Plant Mall’s Christmas raffle.
“Senator Nancy Binay on Tuesday, Feb 4, came to the defense of her congresswoman-sister, saying there is no law that prohibits a government official from joining such a contest,” reports Maila Ager of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
“Because it’s a contest. It does not say that if you’re an official or a child of vice president, you can’t join the contest. There’s no restriction like that so I don’t see anything wrong. It’s just blown out of proportion,” said the senator.

She then added that, in fact, her sister’s lucky raffle break has inspired her to join raffles as well. *That’s fine, Ma’am—but God help you if you win.
