What made him jump to this conclusion?
“He did not name names, but Senator JV Ejercito said on Monday, December 15, that ‘vindictive’ personalities in the Aquino administration are behind several cases against him and members of his family, describing the alleged efforts as attempts to disable the opposition,” reports Ryan Chua on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Ejercito said that “certain members of the Liberal Party are using the cases to weaken the opposition as the 2016 election nears.”
The report noted: “Ejercito’s half-brother and detained Senator Jinggoy Estrada faces a plunder case in connection with the pork barrel scam. His father, former President Joseph Estrada, could be disqualified as Manila mayor after a Supreme Court justice allegedly wrote a draft decision asserting that his conviction for plunder years ago made him ineligible to be in public office. Meanwhile, his cousin, ER Ejercito was ousted as Laguna governor earlier this year.”
The report went on to reveal that “Ejercito told reporters that on that he received documents from the Ombudsman on a recently filed case implicating him in an allegedly anomalous purchase of firearms during his term as mayor of San Juan City. He denied any wrongdoing.”
Moreover, the senator “also faces a disqualification case for alleged overspending in the 2010 elections, when he ran for congressman.”
This was reportedly what prompted Ejercito to say in Filipino: “I think there are certain personalities in the administration who are making these things happen, so we in the opposition will all be disabled. It’s too much of a coincidence for these things to be happening to us at the same time.”
That said, Ejercito stated that he is “confident he has a good defense” against the cases against him.”

4When it comes to the Ebola virus, it’s better to be paranoid than infected.
“Senator JV Ejercito slammed Acting Health Secretary Janette Garin for what he referred to as her ‘publicity stunt’ of visiting Filipino peacekeepers undergoing quarantine in Caballo Island,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
In a statement, Ejercito accused Garin of being “reckless in violating the specific instructions from Malacañang to take extra precautions versus the Ebola virus.”
Ejercito stated, “She might be right in assuming that the soldiers are Ebola virus-free, but the very essence of Malacañang’s order to have a 21-day quarantine period is to make it sure that everything is being done with high precaution, and she herself violated this.”
He added, “If our DOH Acting Secretary assumed that our soldiers are now Ebola free, and she also refuses to be quarantined, then let us now allow our soldiers to live with their love ones. All we can do now is to have a 21-day prayer that Garin is absolutely right.”
The report noted: “Garin admitted she was the one who asked Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang to visit the troops less than a week after returning from Liberia.”
Garin nevetheless justified their decision to visit the quarantined soliers, saying this was “to remove any stigma that may be experienced by the soldiers due to their being quarantined.”
The Palace likwise defended Garin. Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma said Garin “did not dismiss quarantine protocols.”
