Sen. Grace Poe’s advice to PNP Chief Alan Purisima: Go on leave

It’s actually good advice, but it may ruffle some feathers.

“On Wednesday, September 24, Senator Grace Poe called on embattled Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima to take an administrative leave in the wake of allegations that he has ‘unexplained wealth,'” reports Hannah Torregoza in Manila Bulletin.

Poe made the suggestion during the Senate Committee on Finance hearing on the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) budget.

In fact, the report said that “Poe urged DILG Secretary Mar Roxas to strongly recommend to President Noynoy Aquino that Purisima take an administrative leave.”

Poe was quoted as saying, “I think that the institution itself is worth saving in terms of the morale of the police officers. So I hope that at the very least, without saying that anybody is guilty, [taking an] administrative leave will send a good message, just like there are certain senators here who have to be suspended, so that they don’t influence their office while their trial is going on.”

The question is this: Will Purisima take Poe’s advice or will he just ignore it because PNoy’s been defending him anyway?
