Sen. Dick Gordon’s promise to the public: ‘I will pound hard’

Back in 2013, people were practically orgasmic when they playfully used the hashtag #IpasoksiDick during the elections. The hashtag was spawned by chance and it referred to Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon.

As the poll count progressed, Gordon’s name would appear, disappear, then reappear on the 12th senatorial slot. This had prompted people to jokingly say, “Labas-pasok si Dick.” Translation: “Dick is going in and out.”

Gordon lost in 2013, but he ran again in 2016 and won.

Now, we don’t know if Gordon or his staff have realized that his nickname alone leaves room for a lot of those “Dick” jokes. Thus, we don’t know if they deliberately chose the words “I will pound hard” in an official meme that was posted on the senator’s official Facebook page.

But whether the words were chosen for their possible raunchy effect or not is probably already out of Gordon and his team’s hands. People with dirty minds (we are among them) have already pointed out the message’s (unintentionally) porn-y effect.

For the record, the full quote used in the Gordon meme is this: “I am not one to shun awawy from the task at hand. The task is serious. I don’t want to waste anybody’s time. I will not cower. I will pound hard. And toil harder. The Filipino people deserve the best.”
