Call this Kap’s Amazing Story. (In case you didn’t know that’s a reference to Senator Bong Revilla’s former TV show, Kap’s Amazing Stories.)

“Senator Bong Revilla on Thursday, May 22, admitted that he is still open to running for a higher position for the forthcoming 2016 national elections despite being detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City,” reports Patricia Lourdes Viray on Philstar.com.

Revilla told members of the press, “Ang tanong ko lang – mayroon bang nagbabawal na tumakbo ang isang nakakulong? Wala namang batas na nagbabawal ‘di ba (My question is — is there a law that prohibits a detainee from running for office? There is no such law, right)?”

However, the report said that “Revilla did not clarify if he will run for President or Vice President.”

The embattled senator added, “Malinis ang aking konsensya, lalabas at lalabas ang katotohanan. Nakahanda ako pero sa tamang panahon (My conscience is clean and the truth will eventually come out. I am ready and I am just waiting for the last time).”

Apparently, as Revilla claimed, there have already been several people who visited him at Camp Crame to talk about his plans for 2016.

The report noted: “Revilla is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center after being arrested for the plunder and graft charges against him in relation with the pork barrel scam.”

Indeed, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima earlier said that Revilla can still run for a position in 2016. That is, unless he is convicted before the elections or disqualified by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
