No, the detained senator doesn’t wear high heels. We’re referring to his actual heels.

“Detained Senator Bong Revilla has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow him to undergo medical treatment and examination after experiencing ‘intense pain on both his heels,'” reports Adrian Ayalin on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital had first diagnosed Revilla’s condition as “insertional Achilles tendonitis.” Then, after further medical examination, his condition was found out to be “herniated nucleus pulposus.”

The report noted: “According to the US National Institutes of Health, this is a condition in which part or all of the soft, gelatinous central portion of an intervertebral disk is forced through a weakened part of the disk, resulting in back pain and nerve root irritation.”

The report revealed that “in his motion, Revilla requested that he be allowed to undergo X-ray and physical therapy also at the PNP hospital.”

The report likewise recalled: “In November 2014, the Sandiganbayan 1st Division allowed Revilla to stay at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig for a night to undergo a medical check-up. Back then, Revilla had complained of migraine and hypertension.”

The senator has been under detention at the PNP Custodial Center since middle of last year for his alleged role in the pork barrel scam. Fellow Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile have also been detained for the same reason.
