“Senator Alan Peter Cayetano threatened to push for ‘zero allocation’ in 2016 for the Land Transportation Office (LTO) if the agency does not suspend its ‘no plate, no travel’ policy,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

In a post on his Facebook page, the senator wrote, “Walang mawawala sa LTO at sa gobyerno kung sa loob ng 30 araw huwag muna ipatupad ang ‘no plate, no travel’ policy. Ito ay habang inaantay ang supply ng plaka at nirerepaso ang systema ng pag-rehistro at pagkuha ng plaka.”

Moreover, Cayetano has said that he will block the the LTO’s budget if it doesn’t “shape up, start listening to car owners and be more sensitive to public needs”.

The report noted: “The LTO has drawn flak after it imposed the policy, even if some motorists complain that the car dealers where they bought their cars still do not have registration plates. The LTO, for its part, said all car plates are now available and some dealers are just not claiming them.”
