Seen at Manila South Cemetery: ‘Political’ stairway

Over the weekend, as people flocked to the Manila South Cemetery, dzMM reporter Dennis Datu took a photo of a stairway.

There was a poster-of-sorts attached to the blue stairway, which bore the words “Libreng Hagdanan.”

This was because some enterprising Undas entrepreneurs had set up makeshift stairs elsewhere in the cemetery. They charged a fee for people who wanted to pass through it in order to get inside or outside certain areas in the cemetery.

But while the “Libreng Hagdanan” mark was OK, the poster also indicated that the blue stairway was brought to the people by Makati Mayor Junjun Binay in cooperation with Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada.

Needless to say, there are some people who won’t be happy about the said names being on those stairs.
