Security guard arrested for stealing firearms at QC Hall of Justice

The term, “bantay salakay,” has never been more apt.

“On Friday, May 30, Jic Florentino, a security guard assigned with the Quezon City Office of the Executive Judge Hall of Justice, was arrested for stealing firearms from the evidence room of the said office,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

Florentino was caught in a sting operation at the Philcoa overpass in Diliman, Quezon City.

Florentino’s arrest came after police received an information that the suspect is selling firearms stolen from the evidence room of the Hall of Justice.

According to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director Benjamin Magalong, Florentino had been trying to sell a customized .45 pistol Remington Rand and a holster. Both items had court evidence markings.

Florentino also had 50 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition.

The report said that Florentino had probably been engaged in his “operation” for some time.
