Security guard about to lose in fistfight shoots neighbor instead

When two hotheads collide, it’s best if there are no guns in sight. Otherwise, it ends up like this.

“Off-duty security guard Ronel Abrea, 36, had a heated argument with his neighbor, a jobless man named Benjie Baruela, 32, at around 10:25pm on Monday, Mar 24 on Basilio St., Regalado Avenue, Barangay West Fairview, Quezon City,” reports Francis T. Wakefield on Tempo.

Abrea and Baruela’s argument escalated into a fistfight. Witnesses say that when it looked like he was about to be beaten into submission, Abrea suddenly drew his handgun and shot Baruela repeatedly. The latter died from multiple bullet wounds in his body.

Abrea fled from the scene. The operatives of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) are now after him.
